貴重な時間を提供してくれたSKYMARK

SKYMARK AIRLINES for providing us with valuable time.

先日沖縄に二泊三日で行って来ました。
飛行機で行ったわけですが、今や飛行機でもWi-Fiサービスは使えて当たり前な感覚ですが、今回乗ったスカイマークはWi-Fiサービスがない飛行機です。
ともすれば世に起きている事から置いてけぼりになりそうな感覚になりますが無いものは無いので、羽田から那覇への飛行時間3時間程(帰りは2時間)程は外との接触を諦めるしかありません。
さて、そうなると飛行機の中をどう過ごすか？となります。
機内エンタテインメントもスカイマークはありません。
iPhone、iPadに動画をダウンロードしてそれを見るか？ずっとゲームをしているか？いずれにしてもデジタルデバイスから逃れる発想がないですよね。

The other day I went to Okinawa for two nights and three days.
I flew there by airplane, and although it is commonplace nowadays to use Wi-Fi service on airplanes, the Skymark airlines airplane I flew on this time did not have Wi-Fi service.
I felt as if I might be left out of what is happening in the world, but what is not there is not there, so I had to give up contact with the outside world for the three-hour flight from Haneda to Naha (two hours on the way back).
So, how will I spend my time on the plane?
Skymark does not offer in-flight entertainment.
Do you download movies to your iPhone or iPad and watch them? Play games the whole time? In any case, there is no idea of escaping from digital devices, is there?

僕は、本を読むことにしました。
デザイナー深澤直人さんの「ふつう」が読み途中だったので、続きを読もうと。
小説は苦手ですが、こういう本は読むのが好きで定期的に読みたい物に出会ったら買って読んでいます。
（本の方が読みやすいですが、電子版で買うことも最近は増えています）
読み始めて気がつきました。Wi-Fiが無いから、邪魔が入らない。iPhone、Apple Watchから通知が来ないのです。
読書に集中出来るのです。
電車の中で本を読んでいてもこうはなりません。通知は突然やってきます。意識を遮られます。
でも、スカイマークではそれがありませんでした。

I decided to read a book.
I was in the middle of reading “Futsu – normality” by designer Naoto Fukasawa, so I decided to read the rest of the book.
I am not good at novels, but I like reading these books and regularly buy and read them when I come across something I want to read.
(Books are easier to read, but I’ve been buying electronic format in sometimes.)
When I started reading, I noticed that I don’t get any interruptions because there is no Wi-Fi; I don’t get any notifications from my iPhone or Apple Watch.
I can concentrate on reading.
This doesn’t happen when I read on the train. Notifications come suddenly. It interrupts my consciousness.
But with Skymark airlines, I didn’t have that.

コーヒーとKitKatのサービスがあり、読書の隙間でいただくのがちょうどいい感じ。
Coffee and KitKat service was available, and it was just the right thing to have between readings.

最初はWi-Fiがない事に、まぁフルサービスキャリア機じゃないしそのおかげで飛行機代も安いし、しょうがないか…というやや残念感を抱いていました。
でも、ない事のメリットに気がついたら、それが魅力に思えました。
なかなかズルいものです。
単純に読書に集中出来る…凄いシンプルな事ですが、そんな時間を手に入れる事はなかなか簡単ではないなと思い知らされました。
普段デジタルデバイスに囲まれた生き方を普通に受け入れていますが(どちらかといえば積極的にというべきか)、だからこそ、それが使えない時間が貴重であり、強制的にそういう環境に置かれた事で感じた、このフライト時間が貴重な時間となった事に良いフライトだったなと感じる事が出来ました。

帰りの便は夕方便で途中消灯時間がありましたが、迷わず読書灯をつけて本を読んみ進めてました。

At first, I was somewhat disappointed that there was no Wi-Fi, because it was not a full-service carrier aircraft and the cost of flying was low.
But once I realized the advantages of not having Wi-Fi, I found it appealing.
Quite bit unfair for think that?
I can simply concentrate on reading… It is a very simple thing, but I realized that it is not so easy to get such time.
I usually accept the way of life surrounded by digital devices (or should I say I actively accept it), but that is why the time when I cannot use them is precious, and I felt that this flight was a good flight because I was forced to be in such an environment, and the flight time became precious time for me.

The return flight was in the evening and there was a lights-out time, but I didn’t hesitate to turn on my reading light and proceeded to read a book.
