I went to Asakusa Sensoji Temple not on 1/1 to 1/3 but on January 8 to pay my New Year’s visit. It has been a long time since I visited Sensoji Temple in new year. There were many people and the Nakamise-dori was crowded, and I felt the whole Asakusa area was lively. I bought takoyaki (octopus dumplings), grilled sweetfish, etc., and enjoyed walking them with eating.
Jack’s Wife Freda is a restaurant in New York located in Mizumachi near Tokyo Skytree. It was the first restaurant to land in Japan, and I finally had a chance to visit (there is now also a branch in Roppongi).
The atmosphere inside the restaurant was full of a New York feeling, and the interior design was well thought out. The staff were foreign (some were Japanese), which added to the foreign atmosphere (you can order the menu in Japanese). I personally liked the fact that the restaurant’s worldview was well organized and did not have a Japanese taste. In this type of restaurant, the atmosphere is always somewhat Japanese, which spoils the originality of the restaurant. Of course, the chairs and tables may have been sized to fit Japanese people. However, I was very comfortable with the fact that the restaurant’s worldview is not just a typical Japanese one, but rather a coherent one.
The food we ordered was delicious, and although it was a bit pricey, it was a reasonable price considering the cost of the place. The restaurant was very comfortable and not too crowded since it was a weekday and a little after noon (the Mizumachi area is also not too crowded).
