I think hotels are one of the enjoyable parts of traveling. It may be a place to sleep, but I think it is also a place to relax and start the day energetically. It is a place to relax in a different place than usual. Hotels also offer such enjoyment. And the service you enjoy there makes you feel a little bit more luxurious than usual.

Everyone has their own image of what they look for in a café, and different brands have different images, but I visited BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE Kandamanseibashi at mAAch ecute Mansebashi, a renovated version of the old Mansebashi station between Akihabara and Kanda.
I don’t think I need to talk about BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE now, but it represents third wave coffee from Oakland, California.
“Sustainability” is an important word, but it seems to have become somewhat of a buzzword. There is a company that takes sustainability seriously in the field of footwear. Have you heard of the Allbirds brand of shoes? You may have seen their shoes around town in Japan recently, and you may know them as a shoe manufacturer from San Francisco. Carbon footprint and renewable materials are hot topics in many places right now (Apple is leading the way in these efforts as well). Allbirds is a company that aims to make quality shoes in a way that doesn’t overpower nature in the field of footwear.
I have been aware of this company for a while, but to be honest, I had given up on them because of their high price. But last year I took the plunge and bought a pair. I am basically the type of person who does not spend more money than necessary on clothes, but I have my own preferences when it comes to shoes, and the design was simple, clean, and to my liking. So I bought shoes by Allbirds again.

Jack’s Wife Freda is a restaurant in New York located in Mizumachi near Tokyo Skytree. It was the first restaurant to land in Japan, and I finally had a chance to visit (there is now also a branch in Roppongi).
The atmosphere inside the restaurant was full of a New York feeling, and the interior design was well thought out. The staff were foreign (some were Japanese), which added to the foreign atmosphere (you can order the menu in Japanese). I personally liked the fact that the restaurant’s worldview was well organized and did not have a Japanese taste. In this type of restaurant, the atmosphere is always somewhat Japanese, which spoils the originality of the restaurant. Of course, the chairs and tables may have been sized to fit Japanese people. However, I was very comfortable with the fact that the restaurant’s worldview is not just a typical Japanese one, but rather a coherent one.
The food we ordered was delicious, and although it was a bit pricey, it was a reasonable price considering the cost of the place. The restaurant was very comfortable and not too crowded since it was a weekday and a little after noon (the Mizumachi area is also not too crowded).
The hot days continue day after day. I have felt that summer has been getting hotter and hotter every year for the past few years, but the most important thing during this time of the year is to stay hydrated. (In Japan, It’s crazy hot summer in few years.) Buying plastic bottles at the convenience store every day only adds to the cost and is not a good thing, so last summer I bought a water bottle.
