I think hotels are one of the enjoyable parts of traveling. It may be a place to sleep, but I think it is also a place to relax and start the day energetically. It is a place to relax in a different place than usual. Hotels also offer such enjoyment. And the service you enjoy there makes you feel a little bit more luxurious than usual.
Taiwan at night with KLASSE W + PORTRA 400. This is the last photo of Taiwan in 2017. I wrote in the previous issue that NATURA 1600 is good for night photography, but I think it means that if you have ISO 400 and can hold the camera steady, you can manage to take pictures. The graininess is good. However, there have some blurred few pictures after developing the film. When I asked someone who is not used to taking pictures to take them, taht were blurry lol. In that sense, I think NATURA 1600 was a safe choice. I think it is very important to have less mistakes, because that means it is easy for anyone to take pictures. ISO 800 film is currently the highest sensitivity for color, but Fujifilm does not sell ISO 800 sensitivity film anymore. KODAK PORTRA 800, Lomography Color Negative 800, and cinestill 800T are the options. I feel impatient with the lack of variety.
This time, Taiwan in 2017 as before through PORTRA 400. The atmosphere of the image is different from the previous NATURA 1600, perhaps due to the compatibility with KLASSE, but the resolution looks see high. When I look at it on my smartphone, the resolution looks even higher because the screen is smaller. PORTRA 400 is still available, but it has become a very expensive film (although it was relatively expensive from before). It is not sold in bulk, but only in sets of five, so it is very damaging to my money when I’ll buy.
This time also NATURA 1600 at Taiwan night. Since the photos are so beautiful when viewed again, it is still a shame that NATURA 1600 is no longer available. I can easily take pictures at night by combining it with KLASSE W, but it is a pity that I can no longer take pictures at night like that. Fujifilm, could you please reconsider once again and reproduce it? I know the price will go up because raw materials are expensive now. I can’t help but wish that NATURA 1600 would be sold again to capture this night scene that cannot be taken with a digital camera.
Again with NATURA 1600 in a FUJIFILM CLASSE W from my trip to Taiwan in 2017. I had wanted to go back to Taiwan because it is close to Japan and relatively inexpensive, but COVID-19 made it impossible for me to go here as well. I had not uploaded any of the photos I took with film, but when I look back at them this way, I realize that Taiwan and film go together very well. I think it is because Taiwanese cityscapes are similar to those of the Showa period (1926-1989 in Japan), but I cannot help but feel a unique worldview in the narrow alleys and crowded houses, which are even narrower than in Japan.
This is a Hawaii shot using the now defunct FUJIFILM NATURA 1600 film. The only thing that looks like Hawaii is the rows of palms…. Hawaii is not on my list of places I would like to visit again. The city is too familiar to the Japanese, and I am a little disappointed when I see Japanese on menus (I understand the local effort, because this is a place where many Japanese people go). I understand that it is an easy place for Japanese people to visit, but I would feel more excited to visit a place with a little less Japanese language and less Japanese people.
We made a last stop in Hawaii on our 2016 trip and returned home. It was a busy but enjoyable trip as we moved from New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Hawaii. I hope to return to a situation where international travel is a little easier. In this way, I wonder if SUPERIA PREMIUM 400 is a little different from Hawaii. I feel that the colors are a bit too subdued, maybe a characteristic of the film. I think I used AUTO, but it might have been better to use a slightly brighter f-stop. Unlike a digital camera, with film you don’t know what the final result will be until you develop the film and look at the results. But that is fun and sometime unexpected image at developed print.
