A mature town Tokyo Marunouchi.

大人な街、東京丸の内

今回は早朝の東京丸の内です。この日は土曜日だったこともあったかと思いますが、人がほとんどいなくて完全に静かな丸の内でした。丸の内は、銀座や表参道とも違いってもっと落ち着いた大人の街ですね。再開発で生まれ変わったビルと、従来から残るビルがいい感じで並んでコントラストを産んでいて、古いビルも別に古いように見えているのではなく、丸の内という街をちゃんと彩る役目を果たしているように見えます。また、東京という場所、それも東京駅のそばでありながら、道路や歩道は広めにゆったりととってあるところが好きです。これくらいの広さはほしいですね。広いことで、緑も道路脇には並び、決して十分とは言えないと思いますが、それでも緑があることで街が硬くなりすぎないように見えていると思います。大事ですね、緑。

This time it was Marunouchi, Tokyo in the early morning photos. It may have been a Saturday, but Marunouchi was completely quiet, with hardly a soul in sight. Unlike Ginza and Omotesando, Marunouchi is a more relaxed and mature area. The buildings that have been reborn through redevelopment contrast nicely with those that have remained standing, and even the older buildings do not look old, but rather serve their purpose of adding color to the Marunouchi area. I also like that the streets and sidewalks are wide and spacious for a place called Tokyo, even though it is located near Tokyo Station. I would like to see this level of spaciousness. The wide space also means that greenery lines the sides of the streets, and although I don’t think it is sufficient, I still think that the greenery makes the city look not too hard. Greenery is very important in street, town, etc…

何か水の音がしていると思ったら、道路の傍から水がスプリンクラーのように吹き付けるように出ていました。さすがにこれだけの暑さですからそれで涼しくなるという感じはなかったですが、朝の爽やかな空気を感じさせることには一役買っていると感じました。こういう細かい都市インフラの効果が、ビル街の中でもちょっとした空気の違いを感じさせるんだなと思いました。

I thought I heard the sound of some water, but it was coming out of the side of the road like a sprinkler spraying water. As expected in such hot weather, I did not feel that it helped to cool me down, but I did feel that it played a role in making me feel the fresh morning air. I thought that the effect of this kind of detailed urban infrastructure makes the air feel a little different even in a building district.

三菱一号館は、丸の内という場所の特徴の一つですよね。高層ビル群の中にぽつんと赤煉瓦の建物が出現します。このコントラストもまた好きです。ついついたくさんシャッターを押しちゃいますね。当時のものではなく、復元なので建築技術の発達もあってレンガの積み上げなのに綺麗に面が出ているんですよね。なので、それが復元であることはすぐわかるのですが、だからと言って残念な感じがするわけでもなく、丸の内の一角を贅沢に使った作りには、丸の内という街の抱擁さを感じずにはいられません。

The Mitsubishi Ichigokan is one of the unique features of the Marunouchi area. The red-brick building stands alone among the skyscrapers. I also love the contrast. I can’t help but press the shutter button a lot.
The building is not from that time, but a restoration, and the bricks are stacked, but because of the development of construction technology, the surface of the brickwork is so tidy.
It’s easy to tell that this is a restoration building, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing. The lavish use of a corner of Marunouchi is a reminder of the embrace of the city.
